1. What are the requirements for obtaining a family housing permit?

Answer:

The conditions for granting a family housing permit are (Decision C.622/61/1983, paragraph 3 (Government Gazette 9B/84)).

Α. The beneficiary of family housing must be the owner of the land for which the family housing permit is granted.

Β. The plot must be buildable in accordance with the applicable urban planning provisions and the use of the residence must not contrary to the intended uses for the area from the special decrees, or the general urban planning plan, or the urban planning study.

C. That the owner of the plot and other members of the family do not have another buildable or built plot in the same city or settlement on which there is the possibility (in accordance with the applicable building regulations for the area) a house or apartment sufficient to meet their housing needs on the same property.

Required:

Complete file building permit with all the required supporting documents
Responsible statement of Law 1599/86

That no other family housing permit has been issued for the owner of the plot, stating:

  • The family members who are going to live in the property that will be built.
  • All properties (built or unbuilt) owned by the principal and other members of his family within the urban complex of the national statistical service’s annual report, their use and area, and the percentage of co-ownership in the case of co-owned land.
  • That the principal and the other members of his family mentioned above are permanent residents of the city or settlement.

Note: In the case of a city with more than 25,000 inhabitants, the above declaration must also state that the owner of the plot has been a permanent resident for at least two years, or, if he is an employee, the declaration must be accompanied by a certificate from his employer stating that he has completed at least one (1) year of permanent employment in that city.

Any evidence proving the above (tax returns, notices from public bodies or services, checks, school certificates, etc.) at the discretion of the competent urban planning authority.
Certificate of family status from the competent local authority, listing all of the above members and their relationship to the owner of the land. Copy from the land registry office(s) of the area where the building of the interested parties (owner and other members) is to be constructed.

In case a preliminary review of the study is requested, the following shall be submitted:

  • TOPOGRAPHICAL DIAGRAM 1/200 in duplicate.
  • FLOOR PLANS in triplicate according to specifications.
  • VIEWS AND SECTIONS in triplicate in accordance with the specifications.
  • Responsible statement by the owner and engineer for assigning and undertaking the study.
