Offsetting fines for unauthorized construction with energy efficiency upgrades: Decision signed

Joint ministerial decision on the offsetting of 50% of fines for unauthorized construction with energy upgrade and structural adequacy works was signed today by Deputy Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras and Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change Nikos Tagaras.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change signed the ministerial decision on the details of implementation and the required supporting documents for the offsetting of 50% of fines for unauthorized construction with energy upgrade and structural adequacy works.

These are two ministerial decisions which are already being prepared for publication and which set out the overall framework for offsetting fines against amounts paid for energy upgrades and structural adequacy of buildings constructed before 2003 with the amounts of the special fine provided for in Law 4178/2013 “Tackling illegal construction, environmental balance, and other provisions.”
