New opportunity to “regularize” unauthorized buildings – What changes after February 8

Owners who do not fall under the provisions of the regulation, which expires on February 8, will have the opportunity to “regularize” unauthorized buildings.
According to Ethnos, the new framework will provide for fines that will be scaled according to social and income criteria. The aim is to reduce fines for the most financially vulnerable owners so that they too can regularize their unauthorized buildings if they have not managed to do so by February 8 amid the crisis. Otherwise, if the owner had the means but did not proceed with regularizing the unauthorized construction, the fines will be severe. The average fine per settlement is around €5,000. According to the data, out of a total of approximately two million unauthorized buildings, about 50% have been “regularized.”
