Today is the deadline for the pre-registration of property ownership details with the Municipality of Athens as part of the country’s land registry process. There is no question of an extension, as the process is optional and provision has already been made for data to be corrected up to the posting stage and thereafter.

According to the Deputy Minister of Environment, George Dimaras, with the end of the pre-registration process for the cadastral areas within the Municipality of Athens and “until the submission of the cadastral database to the Hellenic Cadastre by the researcher, i.e. by August 23, 2019, citizens who have not submitted the relevant supplementary documents or correction requests will be able to submit them free of charge to the competent Cadastral Office.

Then, after seven months, the posting process will begin, during which the relevant corrected data will be made public and citizens will once again have the opportunity to submit applications for correction of cadastral records and objections, also free of charge.

As regards the locations where the public can go, until Thursday, June 27, only the Galatsi Land Registry Office will be open to serve citizens, while the office at 48 Patission Street will only accept visitors by appointment. From Friday, June 28, the Galatsi Land Registry Office will close and only the office at Patission will be open.

It should be noted that the pre-registration process in the Municipality of Athens began two months ago. However, the participation of beneficiaries has not increased recently. In total, the pre-registration concerns more than 725,000 property rights and approximately 545,000 owners and 7,000 legal entities.

Interested parties can access the details of their property rights, which they declared during the cadastral survey, via the Cadastre website using their Taxisnet codes. If they disagree with any of the recorded details, they have the right to submit a request for a review of the details.
