Definition of Pergola (Article 2, paragraph 60 of the Greek Civil Code)

A pergola is an outdoor, uncovered, fixed structure designed for climbing plants or for sun protection by installing temporary fabric shades, temporary shade cloths made of reeds and movable elements, excluding any other vertical or horizontal elements filling the load-bearing structure of the construction. a1>By way of exception, following an opinion from the Architecture Council, the construction of vertical elements filling the load-bearing structure of the construction is permitted for wind protection purposes and up to a height of 2.00 m, excluding the creation of an enclosed space.
