The creation of an online platform through which interested parties will be able to track the progress of their application for environmental licensing was announced by the Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change, Speaking today at the conference of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association, held at a hotel in Athens, the minister said that the platform will be available to all interested parties and will be accessible to the public.

According to the Minister of Environment and Energy, once the application has been submitted, the applicant will be able to track the status of their file online, who has been assigned to it, the deadline for a response, whether there has been a delay, etc., at the administrative level and among elected local government officials.

This system will be implemented within two months and will be combined with the new environmental licensing system that has been in place since 2011, which has drastically reduced the number of applications.

Furthermore, Mr. Maniatis pointed out that with the TAP pipeline and the Greek-Bulgarian pipeline, energy projects of European interest, and hydrocarbon exploration, Greece has achieved an upgrade in its geopolitical role.

Finally, the minister emphasized the importance of upgrading buildings’ energy efficiency as a source of investment, jobs, resource savings, and increased domestic added value, stressing that the future of construction lies not in the construction of new buildings but in the upgrading of existing ones.
