{"id":410308,"date":"2026-02-17T16:15:47","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T14:15:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cityengineering.gr\/texnikes_eidhseis\/guide-fire-safety-for-accommodation-short-term-rental\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T12:23:41","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T10:23:41","slug":"guide-fire-safety-for-accommodation-short-term-rental","status":"publish","type":"texnikes_eidhseis","link":"https:\/\/www.cityengineering.gr\/en\/texnikes_eidhseis\/guide-fire-safety-for-accommodation-short-term-rental\/","title":{"rendered":"Guide Fire Safety for Accommodation Short-Term Rental"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row type=&#8221;vc_default&#8221; el_id=&#8221;eidhseis-tile&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]Guide Fire Safety for Accommodation Short-Term Rental[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;vc_default&#8221; el_id=&#8221;eidhseis-img&#8221;][vc_column][vc_single_image source=&#8221;featured_image&#8221; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;vc_default&#8221; el_id=&#8221;eidhseis-text&#8221;][vc_column css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column_text]The Fire Department has issued an official Guide to Fire Safety in Short-Term Rental Accommodations, with the aim of enhancing visitor safety and protecting human life and property.<\/p>\n<p>The Guide was published in accordance with the provisions of Article 111 of the applicable legislation and concerns the obligations of owners, managers, and lessors of short-term rental properties.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css_animation=&#8221;fadeInRight&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Obligations of owners and managers<\/h3>\n<p>According to the Guide, short-term rental accommodations must have, at a minimum, basic firefighting equipment, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>portable fire extinguishers,<\/li>\n<li>smoke detectors,<\/li>\n<li>proper escape signage,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>in combination with the general fire protection provisions applicable to the use of a building as a &#8220;residence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h4>Structure and content of the Guide<\/h4>\n<p>The Guide is organized into basic chapters covering both mandatory and optional fire safety measures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Chapter B<\/strong> \u2013 Mandatory fire protection measures<br \/>\nDescribes the minimum fire protection measures and means that must be implemented in all short-term rental properties.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chapter C<\/strong> \u2013 Additional (recommended) measures<br \/>\nOptional practices are presented that aim to further upgrade the level of security beyond the minimum legal requirements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chapter D<\/strong> \u2013 Risk assessment and systematic monitoring<br \/>\nEmphasis is placed on the continuous assessment of fire risk and the use of a checklist, as provided in Annex A, is recommended as a tool for the continuous improvement of fire safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>When does not apply the Guide<\/h4>\n<p>The Guide does not apply in cases where fall under the provisions of paragraph 3 of Article 111, where the special fire protection provisions apply to buildings used for residential purposes and commercial purposes and for the construction of buildings used for residential purposes and commercial purposes and buildings used &#8220;Temporary Accommodation&#8221;, such as hotels and organized tourist accommodation.<\/p>\n<h4>Why it is important<\/h4>\n<p>The implementation of the guidelines is considered particularly important, as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>guests are often unaware of the property&#8217;s security features,<\/li>\n<li>tourism activity is constantly increasing,<\/li>\n<li>Prevention significantly reduces the risk of fire and its potential consequences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Compliance with the Guide contributes both to the legal protection of owners and managers and to the improvement of the quality of hospitality.<\/p>\n<p>Download Fire Safety Guide<\/p>\n<p>The official &#8220;Guide to Fire Safety in Short-Term Rental Accommodation&#8221; from the Fire Department Headquarters (Ref.
